[ENGLISH] On Indigenous Peoples and Moro Human Rights Day, Panaghiusa reaffirms its call to uphold Indigenous Peoples’ rights. As the Indigenous Peoples call for justice for victims of enforced disappearance, illegal arrest and detention, and killings, Filipinos must also expose and oppose the massive corruption under the regime of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte.

Nanawagan sila na suportahan ng UN Country Team at diplomatic community ang mga panawagan para sa pananagutan at pagsasagawa ng mga independent investigation sa lahat ng kaso ng paglabag sa karapatang pantao at IHL.

Members of Panaghiusa urged the UN Country Team and diplomatic community to issue statements of concern on the situation of the Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines, citing the cases presented. They further urged them to support the call for accountability and independent investigations into all documented cases of human rights and IHL violations.

[ENGLISH] The same patterns of repression persist today: red-tagging, militarization, plunder of ancestral lands, and the criminalization of Indigenous resistance. The recorded 100 Indigenous Peoples political prisoners, including Dumagat Rocky Torres and Avelardo “Dandoy” Avellaneda, is a living testament to this ongoing injustice.

We call on the government to end the practice of red-tagging, arbitrary arrests, and the use of the justice system to persecute those who defend the Indigenous Peoples’ rights.
