[ENGLISH] On Indigenous Peoples and Moro Human Rights Day, Panaghiusa reaffirms its call to uphold Indigenous Peoples’ rights. As the Indigenous Peoples call for justice for victims of enforced disappearance, illegal arrest and detention, and killings, Filipinos must also expose and oppose the massive corruption under the regime of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte.

[TAGALOG] Nanawagan ang Panaghiusa sa UN Country Team at diplomatic community na maglabas ng pahayag ng pagkabahala sa kalagayan ng mga Katutubo sa Pilipinas, batay sa mga kasong inilahad. Nanawagan sila na suportahan ng UN Country Team at diplomatic community ang mga panawagan para sa pananagutan at pagsasagawa ng mga independent investigation sa lahat ng kaso ng paglabag sa karapatang pantao at IHL.

Members of Panaghiusa urged the UN Country Team and diplomatic community to issue statements of concern on the situation of the Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines, citing the cases presented. They further urged them to support the call for accountability and independent investigations into all documented cases of human rights and IHL violations. 

[TAGALOG] Noong Oktubre 13, 2025, naging saksi ang kabundukan sa isang makapangyarihang kilos-protesta. Mahigit 400 residente ang nagtipon para sa isang misa at programang pangkomunidad upang basbasan ang kanilang bagong tayong barikada, isang sagradong simbolo ng pagkakaisa, pagbabantay, at pagtutol. Inilunsad din ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan ang No Mines Movement of Guinaoang and Bulalacao.

[ENGLISH] On October 13, 2025, the mountains bore witness to a powerful act of resistance. Over 400 residents gathered for a mass and community program to bless their newly installed barricade, a sacred symbol of unity, vigilance, and defiance. The Indigenous Peoples also launched the No Mines Movement of Guinaoang and Bulalacao.

[ENGLISH] The same patterns of repression persist today: red-tagging, militarization, plunder of ancestral lands, and the criminalization of Indigenous resistance. The recorded 100 Indigenous Peoples political prisoners, including Dumagat Rocky Torres and Avelardo “Dandoy” Avellaneda, is a living testament to this ongoing injustice.

[ENGLISH] On August 9, 2025, during the celebration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples at the Maryhill School of Theology in Quezon City, Most Rev. Gerardo Alminaza, D.D., Bishop of San Carlos and President of Caritas Philippines, delivered a message that challenged the nation’s conscience.

[TAGALOG] Buong puso kaming nakikiisa sa mga Katutubo ng Mindoro at Timog Katagalugan. Nanawagan kami sa civil society, midya, mga komunidad ng pananampalataya, at mga pandaigdigang kaalyado na palakasin ang panawagang ito at igiit ang pananagutan.

[ENGLISH] We stand in unwavering solidarity with the Indigenous Peoples of Mindoro and Southern Tagalog. We urge civil society, the media, faith communities, and international allies to amplify this call and demand accountability.

This year’s celebration is not only a tribute to the rich cultural heritage and enduring resilience of Indigenous peoples, but also a call to action amid intensifying threats to their land, life, and resources.

Nauna nang sinampahan ng kasong grave coercion ang sampung residente ng isang opisyal, si dating NCIP Officer-in-Charge Executive Director Atty. Caesar Ortega. [ENGLISH] This case is only the latest in a pattern of harassment against Molbog in Sitio Marihangin. Previously, ten residents faced grave coercion charges filed by another official, former NCIP Officer-in-Charge Executive Director Atty. Caesar Ortega. These charges reportedly followed Ortega’s visit to the community on June 27, 2024. During that visit, residents said that he tried to pressure them to give up their ancestral land in exchange for cash.
