[ENGLISH] This Women’s Month, we commit to amplifying Indigenous women’s voices, defending their rights, and joining their struggles. Their courage demands our solidarity. Their fight is our fight. To honor Indigenous women is to resist alongside them. To celebrate their strength is to oppose the forces that seek to silence them.

[ENGLISH] The persistence of corruption and political dynasties at the national level compounds these violations. Public resources are siphoned off through systemic graft, while the Indigenous Peoples and marginalized communities are denied basic services and protection. [TAGALOG] Sa pagpapatuloy ng drilling operations, nagpapadala ang pamahalaan ng mapanganib na mensahe na maaaring manaig ang interes ng korporasyon laban sa karapatan at kapakanan ng mga Katutubo, magsasaka, at residente. Hindi sapat ang half-measures upang protektahan ang mga komunidad na may banta ang kabuhayan at kalikasan. Dapat tuluyang ibasura ang exploration permit, at kagyat na ipatigil ang drilling operations.

[ENGLISH] By allowing drilling operations to continue, the government sends a dangerous signal that corporate interests can override the rights and welfare of the Indigenous Peoples, farmers, and residents. Half-measures cannot protect communities whose livelihoods and environment are under direct threat. The exploration permit must be junked and permanently junked, and drilling operations must be stopped without delay. 

[TAGALOG] Pinagtitibay ng Panaghiusa na ang laban sa Itogon ay bahagi ng mas malawak na pakikibaka ng mga Katutubo sa buong Pilipinas. Ang mga proyektong pagmimina na inuuna ang tubo kaysa sa mamamayan ay sumisira hindi lamang sa ekosistema kundi pati sa kultura at komunidad. Patuloy naming palalakasin ang tinig ng mga Katutubo at patuloy kaming mananawagan sa estado na tuparin ang tungkulin nitong ipagtanggol ang lupang ninuno.

[ENGLISH] Panaghiusa affirms that the struggle in Itogon is part of the broader fight of the Indigenous Peoples across the Philippines. Mining projects that prioritize profit over people erode not only ecosystems but also cultures and communities. We will continue to amplify the struggle of the Indigenous Peoples and urge the state to fulfill its duty to protect ancestral lands.

[TAGALOG] Matatag na nakikiisa ang Panaghiusa sa mamamayan ng Dupax del Norte. Pinagtitibay namin na ang kanilang barikada ay lehitimo, matapang, at kinakailangang kolektibong pagtatanggol. Ipinapanawagan namin ang agarang pagpapalaya sa mga inaresto, ang pagtigil sa panggigipit at pananakot sa komunidad, at ang pagkilala sa karapatan ng mamamayan na labanan ang mga mapanirang proyektong nagbabanta sa kanilang buhay.

[ENGLISH] Panaghiusa stands firmly with the people of Dupax del Norte. We affirm that their barricade is a legitimate, courageous, and necessary act of collective defense. We call for the immediate release of those arrested, the cessation of harassment and intimidation against the community, and the recognition of the people’s right to resist destructive projects that threaten their survival.

[ENGLISH] The people’s barricade in Dupax del Norte stands as a living expression of Indigenous Peoples’ rights to ancestral lands and self-determination, community care, and intergenerational responsibility. It is a testament to the courage of a people who refuse to be forcibly displaced, and a reminder that the defense of ancestral lands is a defense of life itself.

[TAGALOG] Ang sunod‑sunod na mga insidente ay nagpapakita ng sinadyang kampanya ng militarisasyon, panliligalig, pagdukot, pagpapahirap, at kriminalisasyon na naglalayong patahimikin ang paglaban at agawan ng mga Katutubo ang kanilang mga lupang ninuno.  

[ENGLISH] These attacks against the Indigenous Peoples and advocates expose the state’s systematic use of militarization, judicial harassment, abduction, torture, and corporate‑backed land grabbing to dismantle Indigenous Peoples’ resistance and silence solidarity.

[TAGALOG] Sa gitna ng food blockades, aerial bombings, at banta ng panununog, nagsikap ang NSM na iligtas ang mga batang Lumad at mga tagapagturo mula sa nalalapit na panganib. Ngunit sa halip na kilalanin ang gawaing ito ng pagprotekta, kinriminalisa ito ng estado, tinagurian ang mga tagapagtanggol bilang “child abusers” habang walang pananagutan ang militar at paramilitar.

[ENGLISH] In the face of food blockades, aerial bombings, and threats of arson, the NSM sought to rescue Lumad children and educators from imminent danger. Yet, instead of recognizing this act of protection, the state has criminalized it, branding defenders as “child abusers” while absolving the military and paramilitary forces of accountability.  

[TAGALOG] Sa Araw ng Karapatang Pantao ng mga Katutubo at Moro, muling pinagtitibay ng Panaghiusa ang panawagan na igalang at ipagtanggol ang mga karapatan ng mga Katutubo. [ENGLISH] On Indigenous Peoples and Moro Human Rights Day, Panaghiusa reaffirms its call to uphold Indigenous Peoples’ rights. As the Indigenous Peoples call for justice for victims of enforced disappearance, illegal arrest and detention, and killings, Filipinos must also expose and oppose the massive corruption under the regime of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte.

[TAGALOG] Nanawagan ang Panaghiusa sa UN Country Team at diplomatic community na maglabas ng pahayag ng pagkabahala sa kalagayan ng mga Katutubo sa Pilipinas, batay sa mga kasong inilahad. Nanawagan sila na suportahan ng UN Country Team at diplomatic community ang mga panawagan para sa pananagutan at pagsasagawa ng mga independent investigation sa lahat ng kaso ng paglabag sa karapatang pantao at IHL.

Members of Panaghiusa urged the UN Country Team and diplomatic community to issue statements of concern on the situation of the Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines, citing the cases presented. They further urged them to support the call for accountability and independent investigations into all documented cases of human rights and IHL violations. 

[TAGALOG] Noong Oktubre 13, 2025, naging saksi ang kabundukan sa isang makapangyarihang kilos-protesta. Mahigit 400 residente ang nagtipon para sa isang misa at programang pangkomunidad upang basbasan ang kanilang bagong tayong barikada, isang sagradong simbolo ng pagkakaisa, pagbabantay, at pagtutol. Inilunsad din ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan ang No Mines Movement of Guinaoang and Bulalacao.

[ENGLISH] On October 13, 2025, the mountains bore witness to a powerful act of resistance. Over 400 residents gathered for a mass and community program to bless their newly installed barricade, a sacred symbol of unity, vigilance, and defiance. The Indigenous Peoples also launched the No Mines Movement of Guinaoang and Bulalacao.
