Members of Panaghiusa urged the UN Country Team and diplomatic community to issue statements of concern on the situation of the Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines, citing the cases presented. They further urged them to support the call for accountability and independent investigations into all documented cases of human rights and IHL violations.

Nanawagan kami sa pamahalaan na wakasan ang red-tagging, arbitraryong pag-aresto, at paggamit ng sistemang panghukuman upang usigin ang mga nagtatanggol sa karapatan ng mga Katutubo.

[ENGLISH] While Myrna is now free from false charges, many Indigenous Peoples and advocates remain behind bars or under threat. We call on the government to end the practice of red-tagging, arbitrary arrests, and the use of the justice system to persecute those who defend the Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

[TAGALOG] Ngayong ika-9 ng Agosto, nakikiisa ang Panaghiusa Philippine Network to Uphold Indigenous Peoples' Rights sa mga Katutubong komunidad sa buong mundo sa paggunita ng Pandaigdigang Araw ng mga Katutubo. Ang pagdiriwang ngayong taon ay hindi lamang pagpupugay sa mayamang kultura at katatagan ng mga Katutubo, kundi isang panawagan para sa pagkilos sa gitna ng lumalalang banta sa kanilang lupa, buhay, at likas-yaman.

[ENGLISH] Today, August 9, Panaghiusa Philippine Network to Uphold Indigenous Peoples' Rights joins Indigenous communities across the globe in commemorating the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. This year’s celebration is not only a tribute to the rich cultural heritage and enduring resilience of Indigenous peoples, but also a call to action amid intensifying threats to their land, life, and resources.

Nauna nang sinampahan ng kasong grave coercion ang sampung residente ng isang opisyal, si dating NCIP Officer-in-Charge Executive Director Atty. Caesar Ortega. Ayon sa ulat, isinampa ang mga kasong ito matapos ang pagbisita ni Ortega sa komunidad noong Hunyo 27, 2024. Sa nasabing pagbisita, sinasabi ng mga residente na pinilit sila ni Ortega na isuko

[ENGLISH] This case is only the latest in a pattern of harassment against Molbog in Sitio Marihangin. Previously, ten residents faced grave coercion charges filed by another official, former NCIP Officer-in-Charge Executive Director Atty. Caesar Ortega. These charges reportedly followed Ortega’s visit to the community on June 27, 2024. During that visit, residents said that he tried to pressure them to give up their ancestral land in exchange for cash.

[TAGALOG] Ang muling pagbabalangkas kung paano tinitingnan ng Estado ang mga Katutubo at ang kanilang ambag sa lipunang Pilipino ang pangmatagalang layunin ng IP Electoral Agenda na ito. The realization of this goal hinges on the positive steps on six identified key issues and concerns that would have to be undertaken by the state.
