In a video from KMU, Taggaoa is on her way to Camp Karingal. According to KMU, the police failed to present a Warrant of Arrest. The arrest happened right after Taggaoa and Valbuena's arraignment at Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 220 over the initial trumped-up charge of Robbery.
Panaghiusa Philippine Network to Uphold Indigenous Peoples' Rights condemns the incident. We are one with Taggaoa and Valbuena in protecting the rights of Filipinos, including Indigenous Peoples, granted by the Constitution and international laws. We urge the government to immediately dismiss all trumped-up charges against human rights defenders, union members, and community organizers in the Philippines.
Kara Taggaoa, an Igorot and International Officer of Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), asks for public's support after Quezon City Police District personnel illegally arrested her and Larry Valbuena of Pasiklab Operators and Drivers Association (PASODA) over another trumped-up charge of Direct Assault.
